Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood
January 2005 brought our sell out pantomime
of Robin Hood to Steeple Bumpstead stage. It was directed by our very own Steph with help from Michelle and Triss. We had
a fantastic cast of Players and Junipers. Junipers had their own scene with everyone having at least one line and some of
them singing solo parts too. Also Jess and Sammy took on the rolls of the two babes which they did fabulously. Chris, one
of our older junipers, did really well taking on the roll of Herman the Henchman. The show was enjoyed by everyone and we
heard some people saying it was better than all the other pantos they had seen that year.
On the 22nd of December, Junipers joined forces
with the Sunday school of St. Marys church, Steeple Bumpstead, to perform the nativity, but this was no average nativity! This was
the Alternative Nativity, with the 3 wise men being Ross, Joey and Chandler from the US sit-com Friends. These roles were taken on very well by our own
Sabrina, Sammy and Daniel. Changes like this had been made throughout the show. We could have done with more rehearsal time,
but even though time wasn't on our side and the fact that some of the main cast weren't able to be there on the morning of
the 22nd it still went well. It made a nice change to be performing in a church and not on the stage, for the simple
fact that we had to work harder on our spacing skills.
'The Beads'
The Beads was written and directed by Steph, this was her first time doing both.
The Beads is about two students who move into a London flat, so they can go to Uni there. Although everything is not as it
seems. Things in the flat start to move for no reason at all. We follow the 2 girls for the week through their struggles to
find out what is going on, and someone who could help them. The casting was really good; everyone took on their roles and
made them their own. There were some very comic moments within the play that went down well with the audience. It was
only the older Junipers in the Beads and it was nice to have some of the people back who hadn't been around for a while because
of exams.
